About this board game

Cités Royales is a city-building game for 1–4 players, played in about 60 minutes. Across four rounds, each representing a season, you must manage six provinces and work toward uniting them into an exceptional kingdom.

Pay close attention to your neighbors’ choices as you collect and use cards. At the end of each season, players build their cities with the cards gathered during that round. Careful planning and an astute reading of the table can help you establish the strongest position.

Cards serve more than one purpose in Cités Royales. You can use them to build your cities and secure majorities, or unleash their powers to perform actions that may turn the game around. Choosing when and how to use each card is central to your strategy.

At the end of each season, the most influential player wins prestige points. Your decisions should reflect both your overall plan and your current position on the Prestige track, as the best opportunity may change from one season to the next.

To govern successfully, you need to understand and manage every province while watching how other players develop their cities. Optimize your cards, protect your influence, and decide when to disrupt the balance. In this contest to reunite the provinces, reputation alone is not enough: wise timing and clever card use will shape your path to victory.
