About this board game

Cities is a city-building game for 2–4 players that plays in about 45 minutes. You have been tasked by the city council with transforming an entire neighborhood, combining new housing, offices, parks, and leisure areas near the waterfront.

Across the game, players use action and resource drafting to assemble the best projects for their personal playing area. The game is played over eight rounds, or four rounds in a two-player game, giving you a limited number of opportunities to develop your neighborhood.

In each round, your workers help you collect a selection of important elements:

• 1 scoring card
• 1 city tile
• 1–2 feature tiles
• 2–4 building pieces

City tiles contain park spaces, water spaces, and building spaces. Building pieces must be placed on building spaces of the same color, allowing you to form buildings between one and four stories high. As your neighborhood takes shape, you can work toward achievements and place one of your discs on the achievement board whenever you fulfill one.

Cities lets you visit eight different locations: Sydney, Venice, New York, Barcelona, Rio de Janeiro, Lisbon, Mexico City, and Buenos Aires. Each game gives you the opportunity to arrange your chosen tiles and pieces into a distinctive waterfront neighborhood.

At the end of the game, players total the points earned from their scoring cards and achievements. Can you create the most magnificent neighborhood and make the city a better place?
