About this board game

Clash of Deck is a two-player expandable card game with an approximately 30-minute play time, released in 2020. Its distinctive format begins with a folded, eight-page booklet: cut out the cards to build your game, with new content released monthly.

During play, each player summons creatures on their side of two bridges, arranged across two different lanes. Creatures attack across the battlefield, but reaching the opponent’s buildings requires dealing with opposing creatures first.

The objective is to destroy the opponent’s watchtower, then their castle. When a player suffers damage, they move the relevant building card from left to right in their hand. If that building reaches the rightmost position, it is destroyed.

  • Two-lane combat: summon creatures on either side of two bridges and manage attacks across separate lanes.
  • Hand-based mana: the number of cards in your hand determines how much mana you receive at the beginning of your turn.
  • Defeated creatures return: defeated creatures go back into your hand in the rightmost position.
  • Booklet-based expansion: build the game by cutting cards from an eight-page booklet, with releases arriving monthly.

Every creature can serve more than one purpose. Playing it may strengthen your position, while allowing it to be defeated returns it to your hand and affects the mana available on a future turn.

That makes timing central to Clash of Deck. Decide which creature to summon, which opposing threat to dispatch, and which creature you can afford to let die while tracking the movement of your watchtower and castle. Victory comes from managing both the battlefield and your life total before the opponent breaks through.
