About this board game

Coalitions is a 1–6 player strategy game about the Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars, with an approximate playing time of 180 minutes. Each player leads one of six asymmetric factions and competes to shape the future of Europe.

Choose France, England, Austria, Prussia, Russia, or Turkey, then pursue your own goals while negotiating with the other powers. Players seek to form alliances that appear beneficial to everyone, but only one player can ultimately win. The result is a contest of diplomacy, ambition, and carefully timed decisions.

The game’s innovative system recreates the conflicts of the period while allowing plausible alternative histories to emerge. Alliances can take different forms, and campaigns may develop along different lines of approach, creating a believable yet unpredictable version of European history.

Throughout the game, players try to capture and consolidate key positions, earning victory points during the relevant phase. Britain may seek partners to oppose France, while other nations pursue their own territorial and strategic motives. France may strive for greatness, while its opponents attempt to unite Europe and restore the Ancien Régime.

With its cycle of distinct simultaneous activity, negotiation, and shifting strategic possibilities, Coalitions invites players to decide the destiny of Europe—and to discover what history might have looked like under their leadership.
