About this board game
Cobra: The Normandy Campaign is a two-player World War II campaign game with a listed play time of 1200 minutes, covering the Allied invasion of Normandy and the breakout from the peninsula.
One player or team commands the Allies, while the other commands the Germans. From 6 June to 26 August 1944, players direct regiments, brigades, divisions, corps headquarters, and special units across the tough bocage country.
Victory depends on the Allied breakout and relative casualties. Valuable motorized and mechanized units have additional movement and can overrun enemy units while moving, while careful combat planning can determine whether an attack succeeds.
Headquarters and supplies are central to the battle. Getting them to the right place at the right time enhances combat power, creating a campaign in which positioning, organization, and timing all matter.
- Battle of the Buildup: 14 turns from 6 June to 15 July, including a special D-Day landing routine; boxed edition only.
- Cobra: 14 turns from 16 July to 26 August, beginning with the historical positions of 16 July as the Allies attempt to break out.
- Campaign Scenario: 28 turns covering the campaign from the D-Day landings to the final breakout.
Cobra: The Normandy Campaign includes two full-size map sheets, 280 counters, and a rules booklet. The boxed edition also includes a campaign analysis booklet and one six-sided die.
With its complete campaign scenario and shorter starting points, the game recreates one of the most dramatic battles of World War II—from the beaches of Normandy to the struggle to push the German line aside.
