Color Words

About this board game

Color Words is a word-building grid game for 1–6 players, with rounds lasting part of a 20-minute play time. In each round, three Letter cards are revealed on three colored tiles, alongside one Bonus card.

Using the revealed letters, each player writes one word on their own grid, aiming to score as many points as possible. Every one of the three letters written scores 1 point, and you may use—and score—the same letter multiple times.

Color adds another layer to every decision. A letter written in a space whose color matches its letter tile scores 2 points, rewarding placements that coordinate both your word and your grid.

• Reveal three Letter cards on colored tiles.
• Write one word on your personal grid.
• Score points for the letters you write and for matching colors.
• Complete the round’s Bonus card objective for an additional reward.

The Bonus card provides an extra goal for the round. For example, a bonus may be earned by ending your word on a space of a specified color. Completing these objectives can increase your score while shaping how your grid develops.

As the game continues, your grid becomes increasingly busy, making each new word and placement more consequential. At the end of Color Words, players receive bonus points if their grid has the fewest empty spaces.

Released in 2025, Color Words combines letter use, colored-space matching, bonus objectives, and end-game grid completion in a compact experience for up to six players.
