Coloretto: The Extra Cards

Coloretto: The Extra Cards is a 10-card expansion for 3–5 players, with a playing time of about 30 minutes. Released in 2004, this small addition offers two variations for the game.

The original edition was published in a limited run of 1,999 units by Michael Schacht’s own Spiele Aus Timbuktu. It is a cut-them-yourself expansion, making it a distinctive compact release for players seeking additional Coloretto content.

The two original variations are built around different card groupings:

• One variation uses 8 new extra cards.
• The other uses 2 new line cards.

Coloretto: The Extra Cards was later re-published by Abacusspiele in 2012 as a professionally produced promo distributed through BoardGameGeek. That version includes 6 extra cards and two new score cards printed on the backs of the rule cards.

In February 2011, it was also rereleased as Katalog (Catalogue) Edition #11 of Abacusspiele. This edition contains only one of the two original variations, along with 6 of the 8 original extra cards.

With its limited original release, alternate card sets, and several later editions, this expansion has a clearly defined place in the history of Coloretto publications. Its concise format makes it easy to identify the specific version being offered, whether it is the original Spiele Aus Timbuktu edition, the 2012 BoardGameGeek promo, or the Abacusspiele catalogue release.
