Colossus

About this board game

Colossus is a solo card game for one player, listed with a 30-minute play time and described by its publisher as taking less than 20 minutes. You take the role of the warrior Nethopha, whose goal is to defeat the colossus Og.

Your action cards form a growing play area through a distinctive layering system. Every card must be played vertically and upright, and each new card must cover exactly two squares, or medallions, on a card already in the area.

As the cards are placed, the medallions left visible become your current statistics. Compare them with the statistics shown on the Colossus card in play to determine whether you can weaken Og, hold on and avoid falling, unlock powerful cards, or continue scaling the giant.

• Play as Nethopha in a focused solo challenge.
• Layer action cards by covering exactly two existing medallions.
• Use your visible medallions as statistics.
• Weaken and grapple Og while unlocking powerful cards.
• Reach the top and deliver the final blow.

Each placement changes the information available to you, making the arrangement of your cards central to your ascent. You must manage your visible statistics carefully as you work your way upward and try to keep from falling.

In Colossus, progress is measured by how far you can climb and how effectively you can use the cards already in play. Reach the summit of Og and strike the final blow to annihilate the colossus.
