About this expansion
Conflict of Heroes: Eastern Front – Solo Expansion is a solitaire expansion for Conflict of Heroes: Awakening the Bear, designed for 1 player and games lasting about 30 minutes. Originally released in 2015, it brings a dedicated solo system to Eastern Front firefights.
Instead of individually programmed AI units, the expansion uses emergent behavior and agent-based logic. Each situation is evaluated, allowing the AI to choose the best course of action using its available resources and unit assets. Even veteran Conflict of Heroes players must adapt their playing style to overcome this opposition.
The solo system changes how action points are managed. Players no longer track APs; after every action, they make a Unit Spent Check. Actions with higher AP costs increase the chance that a unit will become spent, creating a constant decision between strengthening an action and preserving a unit’s ability to act.
Every firefight also includes its own Mission Track, a sequence of spaces that can trigger events. Certain orders move the Mission Marker by one, two, or three spaces, so the course of each game can vary. A firefight ends immediately when the marker reaches or passes the final space.
- Solo expansion for Awakening the Bear
- Adaptive AI driven by emergent behavior
- Unit Spent Checks replacing AP tracking
- Mission Tracks with variable events and endings
Conflict of Heroes: Eastern Front – Solo Expansion was originally designed for the second edition of Awakening the Bear. It can be adapted for the first and third editions, but the base game’s two-player scenarios are not playable with the solitaire rules out of the box; the included solo scenarios provide the intended experience.
