About this expansion
Container: The Second Shipment is a 2008 expansion set for 3–5 players, with games lasting about 90 minutes. It includes four expansions that can be mixed and matched to change the way players manage containers, prices, investment, and competition.
Luxury Containers adds 12, 16, or 20 gold luxury containers to the supply. As a pre-turn action, a player may convert two containers in their factory or harbor into one gold container and set its price. Luxury containers become increasingly valuable as a collection: one is worth 2, two are worth 8, and three are worth 18.
- Factory and Warehouse Restrictions: Stacked restriction cards take effect as players build more factories or warehouses, limiting the prices at which containers can be offered. Together, these expansions represent economies of scale and let infrastructure investment affect pricing.
- Financiers: Players can lend money directly to one another and earn the interest that would otherwise go to the bank. Borrowers may reject an offer, but then they must pass on borrowing that turn. Competing lenders can offer larger loans for the same interest, while a default typically costs the borrower a container, factory, or warehouse.
- Monopoly: A player may build more than one factory of the same color, creating the possibility of monopolizing production of a container type.
Each module introduces a distinct way to influence the marketplace, from escalating luxury values and controlled prices to negotiated financing and concentrated production. Choose the combinations that best suit your group and discover how these optional rules reshape Container: The Second Shipment.
