About this board game

Cornwall is a board game for 2–4 players, with games lasting around 30 minutes. Players enlarge a shared landscape by adding tiles and placing pawns on them.

As the landscape develops, players earn money from their work. That money is desperately needed because, when the workday ends, all pawns move to the pub to celebrate.

This creates the central challenge in Cornwall: having enough pawns available to conquer new areas while deciding where existing pawns should remain. A pawn left on an area can help increase its size, but it also makes that area more appealing to the other players.

• Add tiles to expand the landscape.
• Place pawns on areas to help develop them.
• Earn money as the landscape grows.
• Manage pawns that return to the pub at the end of the workday.
• Watch for opportunities to join or take over another player’s area.

Leaving pawns in place may allow an area to continue growing, but other players can join you there—or possibly take the area over for themselves. Every decision involves weighing the value of continued development against the risk of making an area attractive to an opponent.

With its expanding landscape, limited access to pawns, and shifting areas of influence, Cornwall offers a compact game of careful positioning and timing. Build the land, manage your workforce, and decide when an area is worth defending or claiming.
