About this board game

Corrosion is a factory-management board game for 1–4 players, with play lasting about 120 minutes. Each player develops a factory, deploys engineers, and builds a diversified engine for production and scoring while time steadily threatens their machines and gears.

On your turn, choose between two important actions. Play an engineer card to gain new machines and qualified engineers, or turn your factory’s corrosion wheel to put your machines to work and return engineers to your hand.

Every choice comes with a cost. Turning the corrosion wheel also causes old gears and machines to rust, making timing a central part of your factory’s development. The steam-filled setting means that machines do not remain useful forever, so you must coordinate your engineers and wheel carefully.

• Build diversified production and scoring engines.
• Use engineer cards to gain machines and qualified engineers.
• Let other players copy an engineer’s action with a higher-grade engineer of the same suit.
• Produce chrome gears and invest in rustproof, powerful chrome machines.
• Shift smoothly from one efficient engine to the next before corrosion catches up.

Chrome gears and chrome machines offer a way to invest in more durable and powerful production, while awards and machines provide opportunities to score points. The game ends when the special point supply or the award supply runs out.

In Corrosion, success comes from managing the relationship between engineers, machines, gears, and time. The player who scores the most points with their machines and awards wins.
