Cosmic Encounter: Expansion Set #8 is a card expansion for the Eon Products, Inc. version of Cosmic Encounter, supporting 3–6 players with an approximately 90-minute play time.

Released in 1982, this set adds a collection of cards designed to expand the contents of the base game. It includes 25 Flare cards for aliens from Expansions 6, 7, and 9, bringing together additional Flare cards associated with those earlier expansion sets.

The expansion also introduces six new Edict cards, with one each for Finder, Flare Zap, Keeper, Sanity, Un-Zap, and Warp Break. These cards are joined by five Kicker cards: three copies of Kicker 2, one copy of Kicker 3, and one copy of Kicker 0.

The Challenge card selection contains one Attack 40, one Attack 16, two Attack 15s, one Attack 12, three Attack 7s, two Attack 5s, one Attack 1, and four Compromise cards. Together, these additions provide a clearly defined set of extra card content for the Eon edition’s base game.

Cosmic Encounter: Expansion Set #8 expands Cosmic Encounter and belongs to a larger series that includes Expansion Sets #1 through #7 and Expansion Set #9.
