About this expansion

Council of Verona: Poison Expansion is an expansion for 2–5 players that adds poison and antidote tokens to the game, with play taking about 30 minutes.

Each player receives two new types of tokens: poison tokens and antidote tokens. These tokens are added to the base game and can be placed on Influence Cards during play.

The expansion introduces an important end-game condition. When the game ends, an Influence Card with more poison tokens than antidote tokens on it is physically removed from the play area.

This removal can affect the game’s scoring agendas, adding a new point of uncertainty to the final evaluation. Cards that remain in play may matter differently from those removed at the end, depending on the agendas being scored.

  • Two new token types per player
  • Poison tokens and antidote tokens
  • End-game removal of Influence Cards with more poison than antidote
  • Potential changes to scoring agendas

Council of Verona: Poison Expansion provides a focused addition to the base game without changing its stated player range or approximate play time. Its central feature is the tension between poison and antidote tokens, as their final balance can determine whether an Influence Card is still present when scoring takes place.

Released in 2013, this expansion is designed for players who want the base game’s Influence Cards to have an additional end-game consequence. Track the tokens carefully, then see which cards survive to influence the agendas.
