About this board game
Cult of the Deep is a hidden-role dice game for 4–8 players, with games lasting about 75 minutes. Each player is a cultist seeking to shape the faction’s future, but their secret role determines what victory means.
The High Priest is known to everyone and must root out corruption, eliminate the Cabalists and Heretic, and survive. The Cabalists seek control by killing the High Priest, while the Faithful must protect the High Priest and destroy every Cabalist and the Heretic. The Heretic has the most devastating objective: burn the entire cult to the ground, even if that means dying too.
On each turn, roll your dice up to three times before deciding where to commit them. Use your results to compete for rituals, gain temporary altar effects, complete rituals for permanent powers, stab other cultists, gain life, or give life to another player.
- Hidden roles: Pursue different win conditions as the High Priest, Cabalists, Faithful, or Heretic.
- Character abilities: Use a character’s starting health, special ability, and power symbol to influence your survival and dice-based life gain.
- Secret sigils: Each cultist has a once-per-game power that can change the course of play.
- Wraiths: Death does not eliminate a player. Wraiths roll fewer dice and haunt opponents and allies by giving, replacing, or discarding dice.
With rituals, mythical monsters, shifting alliances, and competing agendas, Cult of the Deep makes every decision a struggle over power and survival. Even after a cultist falls, their wraith can continue influencing the living.
