About this board game

Curators is a Euro-style tile-laying game for 1–4 players, with an approximately 75-minute play time, in which players build museums and collections to attract visitors.

As curator, you expand your museum with new wings and collect objects to place on display. Your employees are represented by five chips, and the available actions are determined by the faces currently showing.

Choose an action from the face-up chips, then flip that chip to show it has been used. Its opposite side reveals a different action that may become available later. If two chips showing the same action are available on your turn, you can double up, flipping both chips to complete twice the amount of work in a single turn.

• Build museum wings through tile-laying.
• Use employee chips to manage your available actions.
• Acquire loan contracts for famous objects from other museums.
• Complete color-and-space matching puzzles to score those objects.

Loan contracts feature objects such as the dice tower of a Roman soldier and the skull of the neanderthal man. To earn their points, you must complete a Tetris-like puzzle that matches colors and spaces.

When the game ends, only one museum becomes the victor and takes home the Museum of the Year Award. Released in 2021, Curators was awarded first place in BGDW’s design contest in 2019 and second place in SMIBD.
