About this board game

Dadaocheng (Second Edition) is a strategy board game for 1–4 players, with games lasting about 60 minutes. Set in 18th-century Taiwan, it places players in the roles of foreign traders competing to become the most prestigious trader in Dadaocheng.

Dadaocheng was one of Taiwan’s most important trade centers during the 18th century. In the game, players develop their own position within the city while deciding how best to use the resources they acquire from the central area.

The core mechanism from the original game returns, now developed into a deeper strategic experience. Players swap and flip resource discs in the central area to obtain resources, then choose how to turn those resources into progress.

• Build your own tableau using the edition’s newly added player boards.

The second edition adds further challenges to tableau building, giving players more to consider as they shape their individual development. Every choice contributes to the race for prestige, from manipulating the available resource discs to deciding whether resources should be traded or invested in the city.

After six rounds, the player with the most prestige points wins. With its combination of resource manipulation, trading, development, and tableau building, Dadaocheng offers a focused contest in which each round helps determine which trader will rise to the top.
