About this board game

Dampfross 2 is a standalone board game for 2–6 players, with a playing time of about 75 minutes, that uses the rules of Dampfross on four new maps.

The game features maps of Southern Italy, Northern Italy, Switzerland, and Austria. These four boards provide the settings for games using the same rules as the original Dampfross.

Dampfross 2 also introduces the Laubfroschvariante, or “leapfrog variant.” With this variant, a player can jump up to three spaces after their network has been attached to an opposing network.

Each player is allowed eight jumps per game. Players must pay for these jumps accordingly, adding a distinct optional rule to the network-based play.

Released in 1985, Dampfross 2 expands the Dampfross system without requiring the original game. Its combination of four regional maps and the limited-use leapfrog option gives players a standalone way to play with new locations and an additional movement rule.
