About this board game
Dance of Muses is an abstract strategy game for 2–4 players, with games lasting about 25 minutes. Guide the nine Muses as they perform a perfect dance and work to fulfill the will of Apollo.
Each Muse is associated with a die, and every time that Muse performs a dance step, the value of its die increases. The central challenge is to manage these rising values while using the Muses’ abilities to influence the dice around them.
Use Muse skills to change the values of adjacent dice. These effects create opportunities to adjust the developing dance and pursue the values indicated by Apollo. Careful decisions can help you align the Muses with his will before the game reaches its sudden conclusion.
- Players: 2–4
- Playing time: approximately 25 minutes
- Genre: abstract strategy
- Designers: Marco Baglioni and David Trambusti
- Illustrator: Sara “Sbilemi” Marino
The game ends as soon as the die on any Muse reaches 6. In addition, the die on every Muse that has fulfilled the will of Apollo by keeping its die on the indicated value automatically becomes a 6. This creates a race to complete the requested values while watching how close the dice are to the final number.
When the dance ends, compare your dice with those of the other players to discover who performed best. Released in 2019, Dance of Muses won the Mensa Ludo Award 2025, offering a compact contest of positioning, value changes, and timing.
