About this board game
Dark Pact is a deck-building game for 1–4 players that takes about 50 minutes to play. Build your deck, develop your play area, and fulfill one of thirteen Dark Pacts, each with its own unique winning condition.
Each player begins with a ten-card deck containing actions, treasures, and multipliers. On your turn, play an action to draw cards, gain cards from the supply, exile cards, launch attacks, or trigger other effects. Some actions let you play additional actions, while opponents may reveal reaction cards when targeted.
Dark Pacts come in two forms. Keeper Pacts can remain in play, allowing you to win whenever your cards in play meet their condition. Instant Pacts are played as actions and check the cards in your hand instead. If the deck runs out before anyone completes a Pact, victory goes to the player with the highest total of Insight minus Curses.
- Buy cards from a ten-card supply or add a card from your grimoire to your deck.
- Play treasures to gain coins, alongside any coins provided by actions already in play.
- Use x2 and x3 multipliers to amplify every numeral on an action or treasure, including coins, curses, draws, and actions.
- Clean up your play area at the end of each turn, discarding played cards and unwanted hand cards before refilling to five when necessary.
Your grimoire begins with three specific cards and can gain more during the game, creating another way to shape your strategy. Played cards may also carry effects that resolve during cleanup, and some Dark Pacts can stay in play.
Dark Pact includes solitaire rules for competing against a bot that pursues one of three possible routes to victory. With varied Pact conditions and flexible deck-building decisions, every game asks you to find a different path to success.
