About this board game
Dastardly Dirigibles is a competitive airship-building card game for 2–5 players, with a play time of about 60 minutes.
Professor Phineas Edmund Hornswoggle, the famed airship builder, is retiring—and the engineers are competing to inherit his factory. To prove your worth, you must construct an airship from parts belonging to nine beautiful suits.
The game uses tarot-sized cards in a constant action format. Whenever a part is added, every player must add the same part to their own airship. That part may even replace one already in place, making each shared action an opportunity to improve your design or disrupt an opponent’s plans.
- Build an airship from parts in nine different suits.
- Make every newly added part affect all players.
- Use special cards to help yourself or thwart your opponents.
- Score only the suit used most in your completed airship.
Each round ends as soon as the first airship is complete. Finishing first does not automatically guarantee the best result, however: your score is determined by the suit represented most often in your airship. This creates a race to complete while also seeking the right balance of parts.
After three rounds, the player with the highest score wins. With its shared construction rules, replacing parts, and special cards, Dastardly Dirigibles turns every addition into a moment of competition as engineers vie for control of the Hornswoggle factory.
