Descent: Legends of the Dark is a cooperative fantasy dungeon-crawling board game for 1–4 players, with sessions lasting about 180 minutes. An integrated free companion app guides your party through the sixteen-quest “Blood and Flame” campaign across the realm of Terrinoth.

Take the role of a budding hero with a distinct playstyle and abilities, then adventure alongside unlikely companions. Your objectives change from quest to quest as the overarching story unfolds, leading you through dark forests, shadowy cities, ancient crypts, and misty swamps.

The game features multi-level scenarios built with striking 3D terrain, including 46 terrain pieces and forty hero and monster miniatures. You will face undead servants of Waiqar the Undying, demon-tainted Uthuk Y’llan barbarians, and other threats while Terrinoth’s divided leaders struggle to respond.

• Take three actions each turn: one maneuver action and two additional actions of your choice.
• Use attack cards and skill cards to shape your hero’s abilities in combat.
• Switch between complementary abilities by readying skill cards.
• Develop heroes through choices made during scenarios and manage activity between quests.

Combat, fatigue, skills, and items receive new interpretations in this entry, while the app manages adaptable enemy strategies, complex status effects, and gameplay triggers. Between scenarios, you can craft, shop in the city, upgrade equipment, and prepare for the next challenge.

With its evolving campaign, app-supported encounters, and immersive 3D layouts, Descent: Legends of the Dark offers a shared adventure focused on discovery, tactical decisions, and the making of a lasting legend. It is a standalone experience and is not compatible with Descent: Journeys in the Dark or its expansions.
