About this board game
Design Town is a 2016 deck-building game for 1–4 players, with games lasting about 60 minutes. Build your own town by playing cards directly from the top of your deck—without holding a hand—and carefully deciding when to stop.
Each turn has two phases: card playing and building. During the card-playing phase, reveal and play cards from the top of your deck. You may choose to continue, but reaching three cry-face icons in play ends your turn immediately.
When you stop, move to the building phase and use the coins gained from your played cards. You can buy a new card or upgrade a card in your personal discard pile. Upgrading requires paying the cost and flipping the card over, with upgraded cards remaining in the discard pile.
- Play cards directly from the top of your deck, with no hand of cards.
- Use earned coins to buy cards or upgrade cards in your discard pile.
- Watch the cry-face icons, since three of them end the card-playing phase immediately.
- Gain eight or more VP during one card-playing phase to win immediately.
Every card in Design Town is double-sided, so careful handling matters. Take care not to flip cards accidentally when placing them in your discard pile or shuffling your deck.
This edition combines the original Design Town from Homosapiens Lab with the Design Town: Reuse expansion. The expansion adds two more double-sided cards, bringing another layer of choice to this push-your-luck town-building challenge.
