Desolate: Dark Matters Pack 1 is an 18-card booster expansion for the one-player, 20-minute solo game Desolate. Released in 2018, this pack requires a copy of Desolate to use.

Dark Matters Pack 1 introduces the all-new affliction mechanic through two Exploration Cards: The Sanctuary and Cold Storage. Three additional Conflict Cards can also cause you to gain an affliction, adding new dangers to your exploration.

Four Affliction Cards represent different phobias. Each phobia affects the game mechanics in its own unique way, giving the solo experience new twists to navigate.

• 3 Conflict Cards: new conflicts that can cause afflictions
• 4 Affliction Cards: phobias with unique mechanical effects
• 3 Character Cards: optional cards that add theme and help set a difficulty level
• 5 Item Cards: new items that increase replay level and add twists
• 1 Setup Card: instructions explaining the new cards

The optional Character Cards add thematic flavor while helping establish a difficulty level for play. Meanwhile, the new Item Cards increase the replay level of the game and introduce additional variations to your sessions.

A dedicated Setup Card explains how the new cards work, making it easy to incorporate the booster into your existing game. For solo players looking to expand Desolate with new exploration locations, conflicts, afflictions, characters, and items, Dark Matters Pack 1 adds focused content in a compact format.
