About this board game

Diamonds Club is a board game for 2–4 players that takes about 75 minutes, set among four gemstone dealers in London in 1899. Each player competes to use trading profits to create the most valuable country-estate park.

Players invest in mines, mining rights, ships, and technologies to obtain gemstones and improve their prospects. The central board offers several benefits, but claiming them becomes increasingly costly as coins are placed during the round.

  • Place coins to acquire mines, ships, prospector rights, technologies, or park attractions.
  • Combine a ship, prospector rights, and a mine to produce gemstones based on the lowest value shown.
  • Spend gemstones to add new attractions to your wildlife park.

During the placement phase, players take turns adding coins to the central board. To claim a space, a player pays one coin plus the total of all coins placed horizontally and vertically, so available benefits grow more expensive as the round progresses. Once everyone has passed, eligible combinations can be exchanged for gemstones.

Technologies can increase gemstone income, provide additional coins in future rounds, or raise the value of woods in a park. Advanced technology levels can also provide extra points during final scoring, giving players another way to strengthen their estate.

Achievements reward milestones such as being the first player to collect five matching attractions or completing a special combination. The game ends when the first player completes their park; victory points are then awarded for park contents, technologies, and achievements. In Diamonds Club, the player with the most points becomes the Lord of Diamonds.
