About this board game
Dixie: Shiloh is a two-player collectible card game with an approximately 60-minute playing time, focused on the Battle of Shiloh.
This second Dixie set contains 400 cards and uses a flat rarity system. The game is played without a board: each player divides the table into three battle line areas—left, center, and right—while cards held in hand form the Reserve.
Players deploy their units face down into their three battle line areas, creating uncertainty about the forces facing each other. On each turn, every unit may either move or fire. Movement advances a unit into an opponent’s battle line area to engage, while combat is resolved with dice.
- Combat Value (CV): determines how many dice a unit rolls.
- Firepower: sets the number needed for a die to score a hit.
- Morale: after taking a hit, a unit rolls equal to or below its CV or routs and is discarded.
The battle continues until one player occupies two of the opponent’s three battle line areas without opposition. Rules are also included for fighting a second day, extending the conflict beyond a single engagement.
Each unit card displays its unit ID, Combat Value, and Firepower. The cards in the Dixie series feature artwork and graphics by historical and role-playing game artist Eric Hotz, with each regiment card drawn in its historical uniform. In addition to individual cards, complete sets are available through Columbia Games.
With concealed deployments, three active fronts, movement-or-fire choices, dice-driven combat, and morale checks, Dixie: Shiloh presents the battle entirely through cards and table space.
