About this board game

Draco Magi is a fast two-player card game that plays in about 30 minutes, combining dragon battles, area control, bluffing, hand management, deck building, and deduction.

The powerful Dragon King Myrgos has passed away, leaving the land uncertain. Only one apprentice can inherit the title of Draco Magi by completing a unique Spell of Succession. To do so, each apprentice must command dragons to collect the rare gems needed for their spell before their rival can claim victory.

Each player controls a deck containing chromatic dragons, metallic dragons, and two special dragons: the Battle dragon and the Polar dragon. Every dragon has its own strength, weakness, and special ability, creating different tactical possibilities as players deploy their forces across the battlefields.

  • Play up to eight dragon cards during a round.
  • Place no more than three dragons on a single battlefield.
  • Use ranged attacks immediately when playing eligible dragons against opposing forces.
  • Resolve melee combat with a distinctive attack-and-counter system.
  • Win battlefields to collect their gems and advance your succession spell.

Battlefields each provide different effects, which may benefit or hinder particular dragon types. After all dragons are played, melee combat begins, with players drawing battle cards according to their dragons’ melee attack values. Defenders can counter attacks using cards based on a dragon’s shield value, opening opportunities for deduction, subtle plays, and dangerous combinations.

Players also gain advanced battle cards that expand their decks over the course of the game. The player with the most dragons on a battlefield claims its gem; tied battlefields retain both the dragons and the gem for the next round. In Draco Magi, swift decisions and careful planning are essential—one mistake may leave you forever a novice.
