About this board game
D’raf is a 3–5 player racing game that takes about 45 minutes, in which players compete to be the first to drive their car off the side of the table.
Before the race begins, players construct a road with as many lanes as there are contestants, using a number of gray road tiles. Each turn, everyone selects a movement card numbered from 2 to 10. Once the cards are revealed, players move their cars forward, with one important restriction: a card cannot duplicate one played previously by another player.
Every movement card affects more than speed. It determines how many road tiles a player may place from their supply, how many maneuvers they can make during the turn, and how much damage their current speed can inflict if they careen into another car. Choosing a card is therefore a tactical decision, balancing progress with the changing road and the risks of close racing.
- Variable movement: Select cards from 2 to 10 spaces.
- Road construction: Place gray road tiles from your supply as the race develops.
- Special road actions: Certain tiles let cars jump, hit a semi-truck, skid out of control, or slow down because Smokey is coming.
- Sudden elimination: If a group of cars gains a six-space lead, every trailing car is eliminated.
The race ends when a car reaches the table’s edge, giving D’raf a variable ending rather than a fixed number of rounds. With card selection, road placement, maneuvers, hazards, and the threat of being left behind, D’raf turns a simple drive into a tense contest for the lead.
