About this board game

Dragon Dice (Fourth Edition) is a fantasy dice battle game for 2–6 players that plays in about 60 minutes. Players command colorful dice representing armies of different species as they fight to control essential terrains.

Build your starting force with a point system, choosing among small, medium, and large six-sided units, ten-sided monsters, and other available forces. Two terrain dice represent the locations being contested, while a summoning pool can bring dragons, dragonkin, and minor terrains into the battle.

The main victory condition is immediate: capture two terrains to win. Players may instead pursue the destruction of an opponent’s dice. Spells, species abilities, and layered strategies can influence the battle, while the game’s fast-rolling system keeps every clash full of surprises.

  • Common army builds use 24, 30, 36, or 60 points.
  • Standard constructed tournaments most commonly use 36-point armies.
  • Forces include one-point small units, two-point medium units, three-point large units, and four-point monsters.

The Fourth Edition rules are backwards compatible with past dice releases except for the retired King’s Die. This edition removes Charge and Routing rules, revises the order of round steps, and changes how species abilities connect to elements, terrains, and dead units in the Dead Unit Area.

It also revises minor terrain rules, overhauls spells and Special Action Icons, adds new dragons, terrains, and species, and removes several force-building limits. Magic unit and Eldarim Champion restrictions are gone, item costs are reduced, Magic ID doubling is removed, and 8th Face bonuses now double all ID results. Dragon Dice offers a flexible system for building armies and testing fortune, tactics, and control of the terrain.
