Dragon Keepers

About this board game

Dragon Keepers is a fantasy board game for 1–6 players, with games lasting up to 40 minutes. Players become chiefs of dragon-keeper tribes, defending dragons from an evil hunter who wants them dead.

The game includes two different experiences. In the competitive Keeper Game, 3–6 players face the hunter’s dice-driven attacks and choose which threatened dragons to defend. Keepers use magic in their duels with the hunter while competing to protect the creatures.

The Keeper Game ends when one player heroically defends three different dragons, or when one dragon receives three hits. The player with the most successful defenses wins, creating a fast contest of timing and choice for ages 6 and up. Sessions take approximately 10–15 minutes.

In the cooperative Dragon Game, 2–4 players work together to defend and train the dragons, preparing them to attack the hunter. Each keeper can take one of four actions:

• Defend the dragons from attacks
• Cure wounded dragons
• Train the dragons
• Attack the hunter

These actions are limited, so the group must cooperate and organize its plans carefully. The players lose if a dragon is killed or if the battle event deck runs out. They win when the required number of dragons, determined by the difficulty level, successfully attacks the hunter.

Designed by Vital Lacerda and his son Alexandre, Dragon Keepers offers a choice between a quick competitive challenge and a longer cooperative battle. The Dragon Game is designed for ages 9 and up and takes approximately 20–40 minutes.
