Duffers

About this board game

Duffers is a golf-inspired deck-building game for 1–4 players, with rounds lasting about 90 minutes. It captures the unpredictable fun of non-professional golf, where hooks, slices, and trips into the trees can be followed by the perfect shot.

The goal is familiar: complete the course with the lowest score, measured in strokes. To set up a round, players choose up to nine holes from the 18 included in the game. Every player begins with the same starter deck, then develops a personal golf “bag” throughout the round.

Each turn brings a new hand and a meaningful choice. Players can purchase clubs, crew, and equipment from the Pro Shop, or attempt to complete a hole. Holes may be completed in any order, giving players flexibility as they shape their decks and pursue the best possible score.

That freedom comes with an important risk: any hole left unfinished when the game ends is marked as triple par on the scorecard. The game ends when one player finishes the course or when the Pro Shop runs out of cards.

Once play ends, players add their scores and crown the Duffers Master for the round. Released in 2020, Duffers turns the highs, mishaps, and occasional brilliance of casual golf into a strategic card game about building the right bag and making every stroke count.
