About this board game
Dungeon Busters is a 3–5-player card game about weary heroes exploring a mysterious dungeon, defeating monsters, and competing for precious gemstones in around 20 minutes.
Every player takes the role of a warrior searching for treasure. To overcome each monster, all players simultaneously choose a power card and play it face-down. Once the cards are revealed, their values determine how the group’s attack unfolds—and whether trust or suspicion will define the outcome.
Cooperation is essential, but playing too strongly may leave you with less treasure. If two or more players reveal the same value, those cards are ignored. When the heroes fail to defeat the monster, the player who played the lowest value must return some treasures as a penalty.
- Play power cards face-down, then reveal them simultaneously.
- Duplicate values are ignored.
- Failure punishes the player who played the lowest value.
- After a successful battle, the lowest player chooses rewards first.
Success brings its own opportunity for treachery. When a monster is defeated, the players divide the rewards, but the player who played the lowest value gets to go first. A cautious warrior may gain a better chance at gemstones, while a bold play can help defeat the monster—or expose an ally’s lack of commitment.
In Dungeon Busters, the danger is not limited to the creatures guarding the treasure. Every face-down card creates uncertainty, and every apparent alliance may conceal a plan to seize more gems. The game’s central tension comes from cooperating enough to survive while betraying others at precisely the right moment.
Released in 2014, Dungeon Busters offers a compact contest of hidden choices, shared danger, greed, and shifting trust for groups of three to five players.
