About this board game
Dungeon Heroes is a 2013 tile-placement roguelike dungeon crawl for 1–2 players, with games lasting about 30 minutes.
One player leads an adventure party made up of a warrior, wizard, cleric, and rogue. The other becomes the Dungeon Lord, building the dungeon tile by tile and controlling the monsters within it.
Every turn, the Dungeon Lord works to create a devious layout for the heroes to explore. The party must unravel this scheme while managing the dangers hidden throughout the dungeon. They can disarm traps, defeat monsters before they become an even greater threat, and use powerful magic to reveal hidden areas.
- Tile placement: The Dungeon Lord constructs the dungeon one tile at a time.
- Four-hero adventure party: Play with a warrior, wizard, cleric, and rogue.
- Exploration and danger: Disarm traps, kill monsters early, and reveal hidden areas with magic.
- Competing objectives: The heroes seek three treasures while the Dungeon Lord aims to eradicate them.
The heroes’ goal is to locate three treasures and survive the Dungeon Lord’s scheme. The Dungeon Lord, meanwhile, must keep building until the tiles run out; at that point, the monsters enrage and hunt down the heroes.
With one player shaping the dungeon and the other guiding a party through it, Dungeon Heroes creates a focused contest between careful exploration and escalating danger. Every placement can influence the route ahead, while traps, monsters, and hidden areas stand between the heroes and victory.
