Edge of Darkness: Sands of Dunestar is an expansion for 1–4 players, with games lasting about 120 minutes, that carries the adventure beyond the walls of Aegis.

Set in the nearby Realm of Humans, Dunestar is an ancient and fierce city built beside the Great River and surrounded by scorching desert. Its doors close at nightfall and reopen at dawn, protecting its inhabitants from the dangers that haunt the darkness.

In Dunestar, darkness is a literal source of the Blight, an endless material from ancient tales. The city’s walls store the sun’s light during the day and keep the oasis illuminated at night, creating a shimmering beacon of hope—and an inviting target for the Blight.

Here, the Blight appears through black tendrils that can spread across living and non-living things. The surrounding sands have become the tomb of many warriors who chose to confront their fear and carry the fight into the darkness itself.

Sands of Dunestar adds no new core game rules, while its Locations and Advancements expand the ways each game can unfold. This flexibility lets players combine the expansion with Aegis content or explore Dunestar on its own.

Released in 2019, Edge of Darkness: Sands of Dunestar brings a distinctive setting of desert danger, stored sunlight, and spreading corruption to the Edge of Darkness universe.
