About this board game

El Ilustrado is a team-based trivia game for 2–9 players that plays in about 45 minutes. Across four rounds, teams identify images on theme cards, score points for correct answers, and compete to finish with the highest total.

Each turn, teams draw theme cards featuring a particular subject. They have two minutes to identify the images shown, with themes that can include examples such as car brands and models. The solutions appear on the backs of the cards, making it easy to check responses and award one point for every correctly identified image.

The game changes its approach from round to round, so teams must respond to more than a single repeated format. Different rounds introduce different rules and ways to challenge the opposing teams.

• Identify images from themed cards within a two-minute limit.
• Earn one point for each correctly identified image.
• Compete in rounds where individual players may face one another.
• Use a round in which teams can force a theme on another team.

These changing rules give each stage of El Ilustrado its own focus. A team may need to rely on shared knowledge in one round, then adjust its tactics when players are matched individually or when an opposing team is given a chosen theme.

After all four rounds are complete, the scores are compared. The team with the most points wins, making accurate recognition, quick thinking, and effective teamwork central to the final result.
