About this board game
Election is a British General Election game for 3–6 players, with an approximate playing time of 120 minutes. Designed for adults and older children, it puts players in charge of rival political parties competing for enough votes to control Parliament.
Choose from six parties: Independent, Nationalist, Conservative, Socialist, Labour, or Liberal. Move from area to area, fighting for votes and challenging the support of other players. The objective is to win a majority of the 635 seats in Parliament.
Election presents campaigning as a contest of planning, persuasion, and political maneuvering. You may need to counter the Socialist appeal to workers in the North East, reduce Independent support among housewives in the Midlands, or try to shift white-collar workers in the South and West through a combination of a slur campaign and brilliant television broadcasting.
The game’s contents include:
- A playing board
- Six party leaders and six Popularity Index indicators
- 25 absentee vote tokens
- 138 electoral tokens, with 23 for each party
- 24 floating vote tokens
- 50 campaign cards
- An instruction book
With its focus on regional support, voter groups, rival campaigns, and parliamentary seats, the game aims to portray the British election process authentically. Hollow promises may be part of the contest, but there are no dice: as the box puts it, who ever heard of an election with dice?
