About this board game
Elfenland is a route-planning board game for 2–6 players, played in about 60 minutes, in which fledgling elves travel across a mythical land to visit twenty cities over four rounds.
Players begin in the elf capital with transportation cards, a hidden home city, and a movement tile. During each round, players draw transport tiles and place them on roads between cities. These tiles determine which routes can be used, while the cards in each player’s hand determine how efficiently an elf can travel.
Transportation behaves differently across the landscape. A mode may move quickly through one type of terrain, require additional cards in another, or be unable to travel through certain terrain altogether. Rafts provide a special option, traveling along rivers and lakes without requiring a tile; they move faster downstream than upstream.
- Use Giant Pigs, Elfcarts, Unicorns, Rafts, Magic Clouds, Trollwagons, and Dragons.
- Collect your colored markers by visiting cities.
- Use another player’s transport tile when you have the matching cards.
- Caravan across a route by spending three cards, or four if a trouble tile is present.
Because only one transport tile may occupy each road, every placement can affect the available routes. Players can support their own plans or place an inconvenient mode of transport along another player’s likely path. Each player also has a trouble tile that makes one route more expensive to use.
At the end of the fourth round, players reveal their home cities and lose points for each city space they are away. The player with the highest score wins, although visiting all twenty cities by the end of round three can secure an immediate victory. Elfenland combines hand management, route adaptation, and interactive tile placement in a compact fantasy journey.
