About this board game
Endangered Orphans: House of Rath is a darkly suspenseful game for 2–6 players that takes about 40 minutes to play. Set in the same world as Endangered Orphans of Condyle Cove, it challenges players to keep their hidden orphans alive while steering the boogeyman toward someone else.
Each turn, you play both sides of the nightmare. During the Roll Phase, protect your orphans by locking doors, rotating rooms, traveling through secret passages, and revealing other hidden orphans. Every choice may move your children toward relative safety—or put them directly in Count Rath’s greedy clutches.
Then, during the Boogeyman Phase, take Rath’s role. Try to determine which orphans belong to which players, while keeping Rath away from your own survivors and concealing their identities whenever possible. This blend of deduction, “take that,” and map reduction creates a constantly shifting struggle for survival.
- Protect hidden orphans during the Roll Phase.
- Use doors, room rotation, secret passages, and revealed orphans to alter the danger.
- Hunt for rival orphans while concealing your own during the Boogeyman Phase.
- Use Run Away cards to improve later escape chances or trigger a unique special ability.
If Rath discovers one of your orphans, escape is uncertain. A survivor may get away only to be pursued again later, while a grisly end lets you draw a Run Away card—an option that can help your remaining orphans when danger returns.
In Endangered Orphans: House of Rath, survival is never guaranteed and protecting yourself may mean sacrificing others. The last player with at least one surviving orphan wins.
