Escape the Dark Castle: Adventure Pack 3 – Blight of the Plague Lord is an adventure pack for 1–4 players, with a play time of approximately 45 minutes.

This 2018 expansion introduces a new mechanic to the system: Plague. The Dark Castle is already filled with horrors, traps, and challenges, but prisoners must now face an additional threat as they make their way through its labyrinthine passages.

During exploration, players can encounter Carriers—plague-infected lunatics bent on spreading the disease. Interacting with these dangerous figures can have serious consequences, adding another layer of uncertainty to each encounter.

• Contract the plague through certain interactions with Carriers.
• Spread the disease as the threat moves through the group.
• Succumb entirely to the rampant atrocity.

The Plague mechanic gives every decision added weight. Players must consider the possible rewards and dangers of their interactions while confronting the horrors, traps, and challenges already present in the Dark Castle.

Blight of the Plague Lord adds a darker dimension to the system without losing its focus on exploration and risk-reward choices. For groups of one to four players, Escape the Dark Castle becomes even more tense as the threat of infection follows the prisoners through the castle.
