About this board game
Europa 1945-2030 is a game for 3–6 players that explores the creation and expansion of the European Union after World War II, with play lasting about 120 minutes.
Players take the role of groups of EU delegates traveling across the many different countries of Europe. As delegates move from country to country, they work toward making each nation eligible to enter the Union.
Every country has a threshold of resistance. When the number of delegates reaches that threshold, the country becomes eligible for Union membership—but eligibility alone is not enough. The players must also come to an agreement before the country can enter.
- Travel across the countries of Europe.
- Reach each country’s resistance threshold with delegates.
- Agree on which eligible countries can enter the Union.
- Avert the growing potential for armed conflict.
Alongside the political challenge of expansion, Europa 1945-2030 introduces an increasing risk of armed conflict in various countries as the game progresses. The players must avert these conflicts if they want to retain their good standing.
This creates a game focused on balancing European expansion with the need to prevent instability. Players must consider when a country is ready for Union membership, reach agreement on its entry, and respond to the changing possibility of conflict across the continent.
Released in 1998, Europa 1945-2030 presents the postwar development of the European Union through delegate movement, resistance thresholds, agreement, and conflict prevention.
