About this board game
Evolution is a board game for 2–6 players that takes about 60 minutes, challenging you to adapt species in a dynamic ecosystem where food is scarce and predators lurk.
Across a variable number of rounds, players draw three Trait cards to enhance their species, create new species, or feed their existing animals. The combinations you develop can shape an entirely different ecosystem from game to game, with more than 4,000 ways to evolve your species.
- Long Neck helps a species reach food that others cannot.
- Hard Shell and Horns help protect species from Carnivores.
- Carnivores let players take a more aggressive approach to the changing ecosystem.
Players can pursue different paths to victory. Some may create Carnivores to wreak havoc on fellow players, while others stay protected and focus on their own species. Evolution supports both play styles through multiple approaches to success, and the mix of personalities at the table helps determine how the ecosystem develops.
Play continues until the Trait deck has been finished and needs to be reshuffled. That reshuffling signals the final round, after which the player with the most food, traits, and population wins. With simple rules and strong variety from trait synergies and player choices, Evolution offers a fresh adaptation challenge every time you play.
