About this board game

Expeditions: Around the World is a board game for 2–6 players, with play lasting about 45 minutes. Originally released in 1996 and marketed as Expeditions: Around the World since 2023, it challenges players to move three commonly held expeditions across a world map in search of archaeological sites.

The board presents a network of branching paths across the globe. Players advance the shared expeditions by placing plastic arrows, choosing how their movements will unfold. Because the expeditions belong to everyone, each move can create opportunities to score—or help another player complete their objectives.

Each player has private site cards, while additional site cards are available publicly. Whenever an expedition reaches a location matching one of your private cards or a public card, you score that card. The result is a race to recognize and reach the locations that matter most to your scoring plans.

The game ends when one player has scored all of their cards. Everyone then compares their total score, and the player with the highest total wins.
