Exploriana

About this board game

Exploriana is a 2019 exploration and discovery board game for 1–5 players, with games lasting about 60 minutes. Set toward the end of the 19th century, it places players in control of intrepid explorers seeking fame and fortune in far-off regions of the world.

Each round unfolds across several phases. Players first recruit explorers with different abilities and backgrounds, then decide where to send them. Their expeditions can venture into three remarkable regions:

• South America, with deep jungles to explore
• Africa, spanning an endless savannah
• The Far East, with mist-shrouded mountains

The explorers you recruit may include photographers, detectives, scholars, medics, and more. Their skills and wit can help expeditions overcome the dangers waiting in untamed lands, where every journey may reveal something extraordinary.

Fantastic animals, beautiful orchids, glittering treasures, maps, and lost explorers all await discovery. Yet exploration is never safe: perils can appear around every corner, threatening to doom an expedition to failure.

The central challenge in Exploriana is deciding how far to push your luck. Continue deeper into the wilds in pursuit of greater discoveries, or risk losing an expedition and its explorers forever. Only the boldest adventurers can turn dangerous journeys into lasting fame and fortune.
