About this board game

Extra! Extra! is a newspaper-building board game for 2–6 players, with games taking about 150 minutes. Released in 2015, it challenges players to complete both the front and back pages of their newspaper while competing for the stories they want to publish.

Players collect news across six subjects: home, world, business, politics, sport, and leisure. Stories come in different sizes, and larger stories are worth more. To claim news, players place their reporters on the stories they want, but another newspaper owner can outbid them with a bigger wallet.

Completing the newspaper involves more than filling available space. Players pursue bonuses for stories in their speciality, along with extra material, interviews, and headlines, while managing the resources needed to compete for valuable news.

The first player to complete their front and back pages receives a bonus. However, finishing first does not automatically secure victory: the winner must also have enough Circulation Points to take the game. In Extra! Extra!, completing the paper is only part of the race; the final measure is whether that newspaper has built enough circulation to win.
