About this expansion

Falling Sky: The Gallic Revolt Against Caesar – Ariovistus is a 1–4 player expansion that returns to Gaul in 58 BC, as Helvetian migration, Germanic ambition, and Caesar’s first campaigns reshape the region.

Competing Celtic peoples have invited outside powers into their divided homeland. The Aedui face a Helvetian migration, Germanic Tribes press in from across the Rhine, and an ambitious Roman governor prepares to push his legions farther north. A great Sueban chieftain, Ariovistus, calls more warbands from Germania’s forests in a bid for dominion.

This expansion introduces a new faction, allowing one player to command the Germanic Tribes. Veteran players of the Roman, Aedui, and Belgic factions must adapt to unfamiliar strategic dynamics, new events, and the aggressive pressures of an earlier period in Caesar’s Gallic wars.

  • Player count: 1–4
  • Time scale: 1 year per campaign, with 15 cards
  • Map scale: Area movement in Gaul
  • Components: 25 embossed wooden pieces, 52 playing cards, five deluxe player mats, player aids, counters, and expansion booklets

For players seeking a broader historical arc, an extended scenario covers Caesar’s full time in Gaul—nearly a decade of resistance and revolt. The package also adds tactically refined, more aggressive Non-players and extra-sturdy Forces mats that can be used in both the original Falling Sky and Ariovistus scenarios.

Released in 2018, Falling Sky: The Gallic Revolt Against Caesar – Ariovistus requires a copy of Falling Sky to play. It offers a focused prequel setting, expanded faction options, and new challenges for players exploring the COIN Series in Gaul.
