About this board game

Familiar Tales is a cooperative deck-building fantasy adventure for 1–4 players, with sessions lasting about 120 minutes. Players become a wizard’s familiars, entrusted with protecting and raising a displaced princess while helping her reclaim the throne.

Survival is only part of the challenge. Every decision can affect the young princess in your care, shaping the kind of woman she may become. Your journey unfolds across a massive world presented through a fantastical story book filled with branching paths, memorable characters, and an enchanted landscape to explore.

As the familiars travel, they must fight off enemies and search the many nooks and crannies of the world. The campaign is presented as a professionally narrated, fully scored, decade-spanning fantasy epic, giving the adventure a strong storybook atmosphere from one choice to the next.

An innovative card-play system lets players level up their familiars by building and customizing their skill decks. Skill cards can then be used to perform a wide range of exciting actions throughout the campaign, allowing each group to shape its approach to the adventure.

Familiar Tales requires a browser-based app, which serves as an automated game master and storyteller. The app is easily downloadable for Mac and Windows and also includes a digital, searchable rulebook.
