About this board game

Fantasy Pub is a 2003 board game for 2–5 players, with play lasting about 60 minutes. Players guide Hobbits, Dwarves, Warriors, and Orcs through a notorious fantasy pub, drinking beer, collecting points, and trying to leave before the party turns against them.

Each character moves from table to table, can stop at the bar, meets friends and dangerous characters, and wants to enjoy the best beer available. Every character has money to spend, but staying too long is risky: you must leave before becoming completely drunk or losing all your money, or the bouncer throws you out.

The fantasy characters have different strengths, and that ranking shapes who pays for drinks. Stronger characters get beers bought for them by weaker characters, while the Orc—the strongest of all—never has to buy beer for anyone. The four character types bring distinct advantages and drawbacks:

  • Hobbit: the weakest character, but able to filch coins from tables.
  • Dwarf: the third strongest, with the ability to move in either direction around the pub.
  • Warrior: has no special skill, but is almost as strong as the Orc.
  • Orc: the strongest character, but leaves a coin each time he leaves a table.

Fantasy Pub combines movement, money management, character powers, and a race to get out safely. The player who collects the most beer tokens wins, so balance your drinking, spending, and escape route during this very hot night-party.
