About this board game

FantasyForm is a solo-only board game for 1 player, played in about 30 minutes, in which you transform your body into powerful elemental Forms and defeat a rival Alchemist before they reach their full power.

Each turn, resolve two Encounters: one from the top Outlands row and one from the lower Forge row. These challenges may reward or cost valuable Shards and Essences, force difficult choices, or deal damage as you pursue your quarry.

After resolving Encounters, you may buy and sell Essences from the Ethereal row, then spend your wealth on Upgrades. Artifacts and Companions provide powerful abilities and increase the damage you can deal against the Rival. Forms offer a combination of benefits and are essential when it is time to face them.

• Artifacts and Companions: Gain abilities and increased damage against the Rival.
• Forms: Build the elemental power needed for the final confrontation.
• Shards and Essences: Manage resources earned and lost through Encounters and the Ethereal row.
• Rival confrontation: Endure incoming damage, then spend Shards to strike back.

Every turn advances the clock. As the Ethereal row runs out of cards, the Rival acts by gaining an elemental Form or dealing damage. If your character survives, you can spend Shards to retaliate. Damage to the Rival persists between actions, but each confrontation reduces the number of actions they have remaining.

Deal enough damage before the Rival uses their last action to secure victory. With its fantasy theme and solo-focused race against escalating danger, FantasyForm is a spiritual successor to SpaceShipped, set in the Earthshine universe.
