By Jove, a splendid array of vessels has arrived at port. This expansion introduces artisan-edition vessels and castles that can serve as decorative pieces or support a military variant of Feudum.

When acquiring a regular vessel or feudum, a player may pay one additional shilling to upgrade it. A deluxe vessel provides +1 attack, while a castle feudum provides +1 defense, creating new ways to weigh immediate advantages against future costs.

• Upgrade a regular vessel to a deluxe vessel for an additional shilling.
• Upgrade a regular feudum to a castle feudum for an additional shilling.
• Gain +1 attack from each deluxe vessel and +1 defense from each castle feudum.
• Pay one shilling at the dawn of each epoch to maintain each castle or deluxe vessel, or lose its advantage.

Castles offer a distinctive alternative to reinforcing feudums with subjects, since a gold-clad “royal guard” accompanies each castle. Deluxe vessels, meanwhile, can make an opponent in a nearby port a target.

The upkeep system keeps these upgrades from being effortless. Their benefits may strengthen a position, but repeated payments can slowly impoverish a player, making every purchase and maintenance decision matter. With its compact additions and military focus, Feudum: Rudders & Ramparts adds a boatload of interesting choices to the Feudum experience.
