About this board game

Fika is a competitive card game for exactly two players that takes about 20 minutes to play. Set in the world of Swedish café culture, you are a street café owner competing to outearn your rival through careful card arrangement and clever manipulation.

Each round begins by determining the primary and secondary suit colors. Players then choose a card from their hands simultaneously and place it face down. Once the cards are revealed, they are added to each café according to the order of initiative, and players choose whether to resolve their effects.

• Resolve card effects and check objectives for coins.

At the end of the round, review your café from left to right. Every card has an objective, and fulfilling that requirement earns coins if the card is in your café. Group cards can increase a card’s coin reward: when placed in front of a card, the reward is doubled or tripled depending on which half of the Group points toward you.

The player with the most coins wins the round and receives one Tip card. Continue setting up and playing new rounds until one player has collected two Tip cards. That player wins the game.

With its simultaneous card selection, changing suit priorities, café organization, and objective-based scoring, Fika turns a familiar coffee-break setting into a focused contest of timing and arrangement.
